What began as a small initiative faced challenges in sustaining momentum, but a dedicated team of three joined forces with another group already conducting monthly homeless feeds in Manchester. Recognising that more frequent support was needed, they expanded the effort into weekly feeds, starting every Friday and eventually growing to twice a week, every Monday and Friday.

This ongoing commitment continues today, driven by our dedication and commitment to serving those in need.

Throughout the month of Ramadan, we are committed to ensuring that daily feeds are provided for the homeless every single day. We collaborate closely with other charities in Manchester who share our mission, working together to make this possible. During Ramadan, we strive to ensure that no one goes without food.

Our dedicated team of volunteers serves freshly cooked hot meals daily, complemented by a variety of hot and cold beverages and snacks generously donated by our surplus food partners.

In addition to meals, we distribute toiletries and clothing contributed by the community, local businesses, and initiatives focused on reducing waste.

We operate from a regular space within the heart of Manchester and also conduct outreach, providing meals to those in need as we walk through the city centre. Often, our volunteers offer the first meaningful interaction someone has all day. While food is a vital part of our service, it is the personal connection and support that truly make a difference.

Our volunteers go out every Monday and Friday at 8pm to serve those most in need.

Organic Soul’s Foodbank lies at the heart of our operation, offering essential food assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity. We understand that difficult times can affect anyone, and our Foodbank provides a stigma-free and judgment-free environment where people can access nutritious meals while preserving their dignity.

In 2018, recognising a growing need within the community—especially among asylum seekers and refugees who lacked access to halal food banks—Organic Soul took action by establishing its own food bank. What began with limited resources, storing supplies in a garden shed, soon grew in response to the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic.

As referrals surged, sometimes exceeding 100 parcels a week, the unwavering support from the local council and businesses enabled us to rise to the occasion.

Today, with a dedicated storage room, our food bank continues to be a lifeline for those in need, especially as the cost of living crisis endures.

In addition, Organic Soul ensures that halal food parcels are available to meet the diverse needs of our community.

Organic Soul is honoured to be part of the Bury Support Network of foodbanks, where we work together and pool resources to enhance our collective impact in assisting those in need.
